The South Peak expansion adds eleven trails and one four-person chairlift to the resort, increasing Loon's skiable terrain to over 400 acres, 12 lifts and a vertical drop of 2,190 feet—making it the longest in New Hampshire.
After years of planning, Loon is excited to announce the expansion at South Peak. The area will include 30+ acres of terrain, a new four-place chairlift and will greatly improve the guest experience.
Kanc 8, December 2021 | Now Open!
The most technologically advanced lift and first 8-place chairlift on the East Coast, The Kanc 8 is now open. Featuring new Doppelmayr Direct Drive (DDD) technology, a gearless drive allows whisper-quiet operation and low maintenance while increasing energy efficiency. Doppelmayr's D-Line package holds 205 new developments, including 31 innovations and 14 patents, making it the most modern chairlift in the world.
Camp III, December 2021 | Deck Upgrades Completed
The old wooden deck has been removed and a new foundation has been poured. Camp III received a large outdoor renovation this fall, consisting of a new heated patio equipped with wind protection, additional seating, and, new chairs and tables. Learn more about the renovations.
Snowmaking Upgrades
As of January 2020, 73 percent of Loon's snowmaking equipment is considered low energy. When these snowguns operate, they perform at a 4:1 return, meaning 200 snowguns run with the same energy it took to run 50 guns in the early 2000s. Read more about sustainability in snowmaking!
Downhill Mountain Biking, Summer 2021 and Beyond | More Trails + Bigger Lift
Over the past 3 summers, our teams have been hard at work building over 7.5 miles of new downhill mountain bike trails. But we're not stopping there. Our teams have gotten a head start and we plan on opening over 4 miles of new trail by the end of summer 2022. We're also moving our bike headquarters at loon to the Governor Adams Lodge Base Area and Kancamagus 8.
